How this project links and it contributes
to the campaign on GCAP and MDGs in Mozambique
The present project reflect the priorities for the national
organizations involved in advocacy campaigns and lobby around
the combat the causes of the poverty and impoverishment structures
and the materialization of the Objectives of Millennium Development
(ODMs), at national, regional and global level. Along the
last years, the Mozambican civil society organizations have
been involved in research actions, popularization, and legal
profession of subjects related with the poverty and the development.
In a first phase and in the way of nets they involved in campaigns
in favor of the cancellation of the debt, around the fair
trade and other linked relevant subjects the poverty, such
as, gender, HIV-AIDS and environment.
In the last year was possible to unify these interventions
in the extent of the platform GCAP and the need of the integration
of ODMs in the national priorities package.
For such, the organizations privileged popularization actions
and advocacy so much in the context of White band days as
in the process of elaboration of PRSP II or Plan of Action
to reduction of the Absolute Poverty (PARPA II). In face of
the progresses reached so much at internal level (integration
of ODMs in the national priorities) as at external level (resulting
decisions of the conference of Gleanegles) there is need to
enlarge the intervention extent, in other words, to monitor
the materialization of the assumed commitments interns and
externally.
How this project links with GCAP
Along the last years and with particular highlights for
2005, the Mozambicans organizations involved in a coordinated
way or through their work nets in actions seeking the removal
of obstacles to the development of the poor countries, such
as Mozambique.
The prevalence of these obstacles, namely; external debt,
inappropriate financing mechanisms to the development, prevalence
of unjust rules of international trade and bad politic and
economic government, it’s a condition to the combat
the causes of the poverty and the materialization of the ODMs.
In 2005, as a result of the pressure exercised by the world
civil society, contained around GCAP and other campaigns,
several were the progresses reached in the elimination of
obstacles to the development of the impoverished world, being
to highlight; the decision of G8 in canceling the debt of
some poor countries and highly in debt such as Mozambique,
as well as, in increasing next years, about 50 billions of
American dollars to attend the development of poor economies
of the South. In spite of not answer in the totality demands
of the civil society these progresses allow to believe that
these obstacles can be removed.
For such it is important to continue to exercise a permanent
pressure on the centers of decisions maked at global, regional
and national level, to guarantee these progresses to be materialized,
so that can cause positive changes in the lives of the impoverished
populations. Therefore, the elaboration of the referred project
took in consideration the need to continue to press the centers
of the decision maked for a removal of all of the obstacles
to the development, to monitor the implementation of the progresses
reached in the last year and the need of materialization of
ODMs at national level.
